The UPV awards for the best academic records were established in the 2007-2008 academic year and, since then, have annually recognized the brightest students of the institution. In this edition, a total of 352 awards were granted for the 2022-2023 academic year and 368 for 2023-2024, making a total of 720 distinctions. These include awards for the best admission grades, as well as the most outstanding records in each degree course and for students who have completed their studies with the highest marks.

During his address, Rector José Capilla emphasized that “these awards are a recognition of the effort, dedication, and talent of our students. Each diploma reflects many hours of work, perseverance, and passion for learning. As a university, our goal is to accompany them on this journey and provide the best opportunities for their talent to thrive.”

The Rector also recalled the exemplary response of the university community during the latest DANA storm. He stressed that university excellence goes beyond the classroom: “At UPV we offer a very broad range of activities that complement academic training: more than 10,000 paid internships in companies each year, sports and cultural activities, and innovation and entrepreneurship programs such as Generación Espontánea, in which more than 5,000 students participate.”

He also highlighted the importance of university chairs as a driver of training and employability, noting that “we are the Spanish university with more than 100 active chairs, strategic alliances with companies and institutions that not only enrich students’ training but also help finance master’s degrees and other projects.”

The Rector concluded: “The result must be excellent both academically and beyond. We are a university that firmly believes in this combination: training brilliant professionals while also shaping people committed to society.”

The event was also attended by José Antonio López, Director General of Universities, who congratulated the awardees and emphasized the Generalitat’s commitment to promoting policies that foster equal opportunities in access to higher education.
