The Rector of the Universitat Politècnica de València, José Capilla, held an institutional meeting with the executive team of MUST, led by Joseph Hun-Wei Lee, Vice-Chancellor and President, accompanied by Yibing Ma, Director of the National Observation and Research Station of Coastal Ecological Environments in Macau; Pilar Ting Wang, Assistant Dean of the University International College; Xiaoping Zhang, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences and the Space Science Institute; and a representative of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts.
During the meeting, the Rector highlighted that “collaboration with MUST represents a unique opportunity for our university to explore joint projects in hydraulics, aerospace, and architecture, areas where the scientific and technological excellence of both institutions can generate global impact.”
José Capilla especially valued MUST’s openness to advance joint research and training initiatives, emphasizing that “this visit represents a first step so that, in the near future, MUST’s students and faculty can participate in UPV academic programs, creating authentic learning experiences and fostering strong cultural and academic exchange.” He also added that “the university’s willingness to explore innovation projects in hydraulic and aerospace engineering reinforces our strategic collaboration vision in Asia, aligned with UPV’s international objectives.”
Furthermore, the Rector highlighted that “the combination of cultural heritage, UPV innovation, and real learning experiences will allow the creation of joint programs that provide academic and professional value both to our students and those of MUST.”
The institutional visit is part of the recently signed framework agreement between both universities and represents a key step in the collaboration, adapted to the Chinese academic calendar and the axes of CdL PLUS, combining Heritage, UPV Made, and UPV Experience. It is worth noting that the day before, the delegation visited Hong Kong, where strategic meetings were held with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), thus consolidating the beginning of this institutional mission in Asia.
