The agreement has been signed by the UPV Rector and the General Attorney of Multiscan Technologies, Simón Hendrik E. Van Olmen, ensuring the continuity of this initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between the university environment and the business sector.
The chair, attached to the Alcoy campus of UPV, will have a budget allocation of €35,000 and will continue to be directed by Professor Vicente Jesús Seguí Llinares. Its main objective is to promote training, innovation and knowledge transfer activities that contribute to improving students’ employability and strengthening the relationship between the university and the productive sector.
Planned initiatives include collaboration in master’s programmes and other teaching activities, the design and delivery of lifelong learning programmes, the granting of collaboration grants and awards for final degree and master’s projects, as well as the organisation of conferences, seminars, workshops and technical outreach events.
The chair will also promote internships, company visits, publications and meetings between experts, while encouraging scientific and technological vocations at pre-university levels, with particular emphasis on promoting STEM disciplines among women. In addition, studies and projects related to sustainability, decarbonisation and the green economy will be developed, together with initiatives that foster the application of computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies.
During the event, the UPV Rector, José Capilla, emphasised the importance of consolidating alliances between universities and companies. “The renewal of this chair has made it possible to strengthen collaboration with an innovative company and continue creating opportunities for our students to train in direct contact with the business and technological environment,” he said.
Also attending the signing ceremony were the UPV Vice-Rector for Employment, Lifelong Learning and Languages, Elena de la Poza Plaza; the Director of the Escuela Politècnica Superior de Alcoy, Pau Andrés Bernabeu Soler; the Director of the Economic, Environmental and Social Sustainability and Circular Economy Aula Caixa Ontinyent, Manuel Expósito Langa; the UPV Professor and Director of Research, R&D&I and Corporate Chairs, Javier L. Silvestre Blanes; and Vicente Jesús Seguí Llinares, Professor and Director of the MULTISCAN Chair.
