Spanish art critic and historian. Noted for his studies on contemporary art, he founded the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art in Cuenca. His work was key in the promotion and understanding of modern art in Spain.

Born in Valencia 15/08/1920.

Scholarship from the French Government in Paris.

He belonged to the Artistic Studies Service of the “Alfonso the Magnanimous” Institute of the Provincial Council of Valencia.

In 1959 he received the “Pi Suñer Prize” from the Institute of North American Studies in Barcelona, for the best cultural work on north American subjects.

In 1959 he was awarded “Primer Premio Internacional de la Crítica” (Best International Critic) at the 29th Biennial of Valencia.

In 1962 he was awarded the Medalla Premio Especial (Special Award Medal) by the “Adacemia dei 500” in Rome.

In 1962 he was appointed member of the Honorary Committee by the “Christian Action” (alongside Picasso, Schweitzer, Cocteau, Cassou, Emmanuel, Moore, Silone) at the "International Exhibition for Human Rights and Racial Equality" (London).

In 1962 he was appointed member of the Artistic Council of "Internationales Kunstzentrum" at Erlenbach am Main.

In 1963 he was appointed member of the Directorate Committee of the "Edizioni d'Arte Moderna" (Rome) alongside Read, Argan, Cassou, Leymarie, Sweeney, Ponente and Apollonio.

In the National Assembly held in Venice in 1964 he was voted to be member of the Directorate Committee of the "Association Internationale des Critiques d'Art" (AICA).

In 1965 he was awarded the “Medalla de Oro” (Gold Medal) by the President of the Italian Cabinet “for the numerous merits brought to the field of contemporary artistic culture” (Convegno Internazionale Artisti, Critici e Studiosi d'Arte).

Honorary Member of the "Musée du Petit Palais" (Lausanne).

He belonged to the Editorial Board of the magazines "Arte Figurativa" and "D'Arts" (both from Milan).

He belongs to the “Spanish Association of Art Critics” (AECA) as a founding member, being the current President of the Directorate Board as well as President of the “Valencian Association of Art Critics (AVCA).

He is a society member of "Association Internationale des Critiques d'Art" (AICA).

Collaborator of the Gran Enciclopedia Catalana.

Member of the Advisory Council of the Gran Enciclopedia de la Región Valenciana.

While this international organisation existed, he was a member of the European Writers’ Community.

Director/Founder of the Villafamés Popular Museum of Contemporary Art (Castellón).

Member of the Trust of Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid and the Governing Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Elche (Alicante).

Honorary Citizen of Villafamés (Castellón).
