Gianluigi Colalucci

Italian restorer, known for his work in the restoration of important works of art, including the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican.

Graduated from the Central Institute of Restoration in Rome, under the direction of Cesare Brandi.

From 1979 to 1995, he served as Head of the Vatican Laboratories in Rome.

From 1980 to 1994, he was responsible for the restoration of Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.

Since 1991, he has collaborated with the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, teaching courses and seminars on mural painting restoration.

He has taught at universities, institutes, and museums in Italy, France, England, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, the United States, Australia, and Japan.

In 1991, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by New York University.

Active member of the Rotary Club of Rome South West.

Fellow Member of the International Institute of Conservation.
