Promoted by Professor Amparo López-Jiménez, Head of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Environment, the agreement includes the donation of sectorial water meters to be installed on the university campus. These tools will allow real-time water consumption monitoring, providing essential data for research and efficient resource management. “Our university, functioning as a city of over 30,000 people, is taking another step toward a sustainability model based on technology and knowledge,” highlighted the Rector during his remarks.
The Rector also took the opportunity to acknowledge EMIVASA’s contribution, particularly its involvement in addressing the recent DANA crisis. The company, one of the operators most affected by the storm, has led sewer cleaning operations and worked with other cities on waste collection efforts. “This commitment not only benefits our community but also reinforces a model of shared responsibility,” he added.
The UPV’s patronage policy, actively driven by the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization and Communication and the Sponsorship Office, fosters collaboration between the university and external entities to develop projects with a positive impact. The agreement with EMIVASA complements the actions under the Strategic Plan SIRVE and initiatives by the Vice-Rectorate for Campus Sustainability, solidifying the UPV as a leader in sustainable and innovative management.
Professor Amparo López-Jiménez emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “Having advanced tools and reliable data allows us to progress in knowledge while reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.”
Through this agreement, the UPV and EMIVASA strengthen their strategic alliance around sustainability and innovation, reaffirming the university’s mission to contribute to societal and environmental well-being.
